Factors and Steps for Effective Treatment Planning
Many factors should be taken into consideration while planning the design. The age, gender, face shape, personality, and aesthetic expectations of the patient play an important role in planning. Firstly, gingival problems and decayed teeth (if there are any) must be treated before you start smile designing. Models of jaw are obtained by taking impressions of upper and lower jaws of the patient and intraoral and face photos are recorded. All the data is evaluated in a digital environment and a personalized design is prepared. The created design is presented to the patient on 3D models and later in the mouth using an application called mock-up. The treatment starts when the patient and the dentist give approval.
Gingival Aesthetics, Teeth Whitening, and Customized Restorations
The first step in the treatment is the application of gingival aesthetics (pink aesthetics) if necessary. Then, teeth whitening process can be applied if the color of the teeth is too dark to affect the planned aesthetic restoration. After maintaining the health of the gingiva and its harmony with the teeth and after teeth whitening process is applied, we can give a start to customized restoration. Small bonding applications, composite veneers, porcelain veneers and e-max crowns are the applications we perform the most in smile design.
