Tailoring Treatment to the Underlying Cause
The cause of it must be analyzed carefully before the treatment because gummy smile treatment should be administered according to the main cause.
If the cause is skeletal, orthodontic treatment must be provided. Sometimes besides orthodontic treatment, surgery might be necessary.
If there is a condition related to muscles, botulinum toxin will be a good option. Or lip repositioning, which is a method that limits the upward retraction of the lips, might be applied.
If there is an excessive display of the gum, the gum can be reshaped.
