TOTAL PROSTHESES
Total (Full) dentures are made in cases where all the teeth in the mouth are lost and are placed on the lower and upper jaws. When implant cannot be applied or when waiting for implant treatment, total dentures can be applied as a temporary prosthesis. A special gum and bone structure impression is taken, and a base is prepared. The artificial teeth are aligned onto the base and the patient tries the prosthesis on. If the jaw and the prosthesis are compatible and the teeth closes properly, then the prosthesis is completed.
Enhancing Total Prostheses
The attachment of the total prostheses is achieved by tissue compatibility and vacuuming. That’s why, they are the weakest prostheses in terms of attachment. Today in order to overcome this difficulty, it is preferred to support the total prosthesis with 2 implants placed onto the front jawbone.
